Looking for your next outdoor escape? I've handpicked a collection of the best campsites across the UK — from scenic coastal spots to peaceful woodland retreats. Whether you're a seasoned camper or trying it out for the first time, these recommendations are all about great locations, friendly vibes, and unforgettable views. Note: This list is not in order of preference.

North West Wales

1. CEFD COED WILD CAMPING

This is a wonderful site. Cefn Coed is remote, well thought out, quirky, clean and situated close to the local estuary where you can take some wonderful scenic walks.

They have a great selection of pitches (over 20). Prices are a little on the pricy side, but to be honest, you get what you pay for and I would say its worth it.

Cost: Approx £17.50 a night, for 1 adult.

East Sussex

2. EVERGREEN FARM WOODLAND CAMPING

This is another site where you can camp in woodland. At Evergreen Farm there are again plenty of wonderful pitches, each offering your own charismatic pitch. It's also a great site to visit if you live close to London.

As of 6th May 2025, it does appear as if they are not currently taking any bookings. That said, when they open again, I recommend a visit.

Website: No official website currently. Bookings via Pitchup or HipCamp.

Coordinates: 51.108600, -0.015228

Oxfordshire

3. Chiltern Retreat Rural Camping

Hidden away in the Chiltern Hills, this campsite is one of my favourites. Set in 200 acres of fields, meadows and woodlands it offers you the opportunity to camp any way you want to. The woodland pitches are all different, offering different degrees of space for privacy or room for larger groups.

Also, being located in Oxfordshire means its an easy site to access for friends who line all over the place to come together at.

Cost: Approx: £15 a night, for 1 adult.

Mid Wales

4. COCO’S WILD CAMPING

Want to feel like you're on top of the world? Coco's Wild Camping is a massive 400 acre site that feels like you're camping in the Shire from Lord of the Rings.

The whole site is made up of undulating hills and spectacular views and on a clear night, offers a great opportunity for star-gazing.

As a side note, I feel I should mention that due to its elevation, the site can be windy. So bring warm clothes, plenty of tent pegs and a tent that can withstand the occasional strong gust!

Cost: Approx £10 a night, for 1 adult.

5. SOUTH DEAN CAMPING

Need some sea air and some space to breathe and relax? South Dean Camping is a great site that offers just that. It's essentially a well maintained field set back from a clifftop that looks across the sea.

South Dean Camping is spacious, simple and has a well thought out kitchen and toilet block. It also has a few Alpaccas that wander around for added charm!

Cost: Approx: £17.50 a night, for 1 adult.

6. LLYN GWYNANT CAMPSITE

Many sites have one particular aspect that sells it, but Llyn Gwyant Campsite has more than its fair share. You can camp on the shore of a stunning lake, on the back side of Mount Snowdon, with easy access to the rest of Snowdonia, because it's placed slap bang in the middle of it all. Plus, they have a food van on onsite that sells all sorts of freshly cooked grub!

Cost: Approx: £15 a night, for 1 adult.

7. ROWBURY FARM CAMPING

Rowbury Farm Campsite is another example of a simple and yet charming site. Its a large field in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, with generous secluded pitches that are surrounded by tall walls of wild flowers.

Being so open, it offers fantastic sky views for both sunrise and sunset and the vibe has always been fun and friendly.

Cost: Approx: £16 a night, for 1 adult.

8. RHAEADR NANTCOL WATERFALLS CAMPSITE

Really want to get away from it all? Tucked away down a windy back road, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, is Rhaeadr Nantcol Campsite.

This site is situated at the base of a series of waterfalls, that lead up to the top of the hill above.

Cost: Approx: £14 a night, for 1 adult.

9. RYNYS FARM CAMPING

Pitch your tent looking down the valley and take in one of the best views in Wales (especially in autumn).

Rynys Farm is a beautiful little campsite on a beautiful little farm. Always friendly and accommodating and with easy access to Betws-y-Coed, this is one to visit if you want a great basecamp to explore the south of Snowdonia.

Cost: Approx: £10 a night, for 1 adult.

10. Meadow Tree Farm

Meadow Tree Farm is a lovely little campsite that is coming into bloom. They recently added a lake in front of the the tree-line adding a wonderful view to the site that unites the visitors.

No designated pitches, just turn up, find yourself a spot under the trees and fire up the BBQ.

Cost: Approx: £13 a night, for 1 adult.

11. SKYSEA CARAVAN SITE

I don't usually go to campsites that accommodate caravans, but this SeaSky is a little different from the rest. The tent and RV field is situated at the far end of the site, offering the best view of the bay and in turn, sunrise.

If you can side out of bed before the sun makes an appearance, you can sit on the ruins of an old saltworks building or head a little further on to the rocks, and experience the start of a new day in all its glory.

Cost: Approx: £15 a night, for 1 adult.

12. Burnbake Camping

It doesn't get any better than camping in warm dappled sunlight while the smell of BBQs wafts across the air. Burnbake offers camping among the trees, as well as open fields.

The whole site is well layed out, relaxed and a great place to relax and meet like-minded people.

Cost: Approx: £21 a night, for 1 adult.

12. Rosewall Camping

I'm going to recommend this campsite for two reasons. 1: If you get a spot on the top of the hill, you get flat ground and an excellent view and 2: The site is a stones throw away from The Smugglers Inn.

The site is tucked away at the end of a single track road, opening up to a large camping field, sheltered in sections by tall hedges.

If you want a break away with sea air, access to a beach and a great British pub, this site is worth a visit.

Cost: Approx: £25 a night, for 1 adult.
